FAIRFIELD
BUILDERS SUPPLIES and BUXTON WOODWORKS join together to form a family
run business that has been serving the building trade and DIY since
1946. With 33 staff on two close sites, we supply a wide range of
building and DIY products from the basic sand, cement, bricks, blocks,
timber, plumbing goods to top quality bathrooms and kitchens.

| 1945 |
Arthur
Hancock returned home from war in December. With a gratuity of £103
and his demob suit. |
| 1946
|
In
February he bought Buxton Woodworks which was on the premises of the
old ice works Lightwood Road. From there he sold firewood. |
| 1948 |
He
bought some second hand timber from the coal board. |
| 1950
|
Arthur
sold his first standard of brand new timber. |
| 1955

Arthur
build his first houses. |
| 1959
|
He
bought the farm buildings and land on Bench Road and Buxton Woodworks
moved to Fairfield. |
| 1963 |
John
Bradbury (Arthur's son-in-law) opened Fairfield Builders Supplies
in a new showroom next to Buxton Woodworks. The main displays were
fireplaces. |
| 1988 |
Tongue
Lane site was opened with a range of heavy building materials. |
| 2000
|
Fairfield
Builders supplies became completely computerised, including sales,
stock, invoicing, website and email. |
